Do I Need Specific Industry Experience To Successfully Run A Franchise?

In most cases, the answer is NO. In fact, most franchisees have had no experience in the industry that they go into. They choose the franchise for the lifestyle, their excitement for the concept or any number of other reasons. In fact, most Franchisors want their business operators to focus on running the business and not performing the labor their concepts require. Franchisees are typically managers, rather than workers. Franchisors need people who can be effective in areas such as motivating employees, generating sales, and running day-to-day operations as effectively as possible.

How Do I Know That My Mentor Has My Best Interest In Mind?

Franchisors are pretty picky when it comes to awarding franchises. So it is our interest, as well as yours, to only show you franchises that could be a fit.

How Soon Can I Get Started?

This one depends almost completely on you. The consulting process can be completed easily within a few days if you are motivated. Once franchise options are presented, most candidates can find a great match for them within a month or two. After you select the right business for you, it will typically take anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months for your actual business to open for operation.

How Profitable Can I Be?

Although the success rate for franchise-owned businesses is generally better than the success rate for many independent businesses, there is no formula to guarantee success. The same may also be said of the profits generated. Often the margins you make reflect your ability to properly run your franchise, however, you will be able to get a document (Item 19 of the Franchise Disclosure Document) from the franchisor that illustrates the typical franchise earnings. One bad apple does not mean the concept is flawed, so be sure to speak with at least five franchisees.

A franchise offering can solely be presented by the franchisor in a state where they have met registration, exclusion, exemption, or other qualifying requirements to offer franchises within that state. Additionally, they must provide you with the necessary franchise disclosure document. Any follow-up or personalized responses to you, which pertain to selling a franchise, will only occur if the franchisor adheres to state registration prerequisites or falls under an applicable state exclusion or exemption.
